Dr. Marinus L. Otte is a professor at North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, USA, and has specialized in wetlands research and education for more than 30 years. His interests range from biogeochemistry to whole watersheds and his work has included projects in many countries around the world: the Netherlands and Ireland, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Taiwan, several States in the USA, and most recently in Mexico. He has been the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Wetlands since 2012 and has published almost 100 peer-reviewed articles and hundreds of conference contributions. He is a Fulbright Specialist in water and wetlands.
